The London Borough of Croydon is located Southwest of London City Airport a distance of 19 miles that would take around 45 minutes by taxi via the A102. It is the largest borough by population in outer London and has a population of 363,400 according to 2011 statistics.

Although the borough has a reputation in being a business and retail centre, it also owes its popularity to the many historic and cultural tourist and visitor attractions within its boundaries. Some notable buildings of heritage include Addington Palace, Croydon Airport Visitor Centre, St Mary's Addington, Croydon Palace, Shirley Windmill and Croydon Parish Church. The Croydon Clocktower was once known as the Jewel in the Crown and landmark of the skyline, it is used now as a popular venue and also houses the Croydon Museum.

Croydon is also great for its shopping facilites with the precincts of Whitgift Centre and Centrale. Independant retailers can be found in the Croydon Centre, High Street, West Croydon and London Road.
